Current state and future trends in boundary layer control on lifting surfaces

Successful flow control may bring numerous benefits, such as stabilization, reattachment, separation delay, drag reduction, lift increase, aerodynamic performance improvement, energy efficiency shock delay or weakening, noise etc. For these purposes, many different devices, which can be classified passive, semi-active and active, have been designed tested. This review paper aims to highlight the most promising commonly employed boundary layer methods well outline their potential in specific applications aerospace engineering. Referenced studies, performed on various geometries (flat plates, channels, airfoils, wings, blades, cylinders), are primarily numerical experimental. Although enhanced is achieved cases, further research required draw general conclusions. demonstrate that, future, we expect developments of actuators, increased application.
